The Leawood Parks and Recreation Department stays busy keeping the local natural areas in the best condition and offers access to various parks, greenways, programs, and special events. If you've got a four-legged friend and love a good pun, check out the Leawoof Dog Park for a game of fetch.

If you're looking for athletic fields, tennis courts, and walking and running trails, the Leawood City Park offers 66 acres of green space and an aquatic center. 

Public Education

Moving to Leawood with kids? The city is served by two different school districts, Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley, both of which are made up of thousands of students. The two schools have a diverse student population and are consistently ranked highly in the state.

Leawood also offers several private school options, three fo which are Catholic schools.

Are you interested in the local window shopping scene? There are several different shopping centers in Leawood that offer a mix of specialty boutiques and chain retailers. Visit the Town Center Plaza for a day at the mall, or head to the charming downtown district, and explore the shops at Park Place. 

If you work up an appetite, Leawood has tons of restaurants to satisfy your every craving. Grab some of the world-famous Kansas City BBQ from Joe's, get some noodles from the family-owned Blue Koi, or enjoy a drink at O'Neill's.

With an unemployment rate a full percentage point below the national average, the job market is steadily thriving in Leawood. The largest employers in the Leawood and Overland Park areas include the Synergy Group, Butler Transport, YRC Worldwide, and Sprint. Other major career fields available include healthcare, education, and agriculture.
